Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a strange turn of events, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has replaced Twitter's iconic blue bird logo with a "Doge" meme. The change came late last night when some Twitter users started noticing the Home button in the top LED corner of their web browsers - the blue bird replaced by a cartoon Shiba Inu, which is the face of the Doge meme.
However, the changed logo is only visible on the web version of Twitter, not in the app. This doge image is believed to have been created as a joke in 2013 on the platform. Musk is a passionate supporter of dogecoin and has spoken about it in the media.
According to reports, dogecoin rose as high as 10.2 cents from around 7.7 cents after the change. Musk confirmed the change via his Twitter account. Twitter's CEO tweeted a meme of a police officer inspecting a document while the Dog says it's an old photo.
In addition, Musk also shared another tweet with a screenshot of a conversation he had with a twitter user before he took over the company and quoted, "As promised."
In other news, Musk is making changes to the social media giant's verification system, which he took over last October. The company recently announced that it will end its old verified program, and now users will have to pay $8 a month for the coveted blue tick on their accounts. Some accounts, such as the New York Times, also had their checkmarks removed after they confirmed they would not pay for Twitter verification.
#TwitterLogo and #Doge are currently trending on Twitter.
